01Option 1

Airport To Airport

This takes a minute and needs nothing but the flight itself. It works for a flight you took last week or one you took in 2009.

  1. Open the AvoMap editor

Every feature is open from the first click, and the preview is free.

  2. Add a flight segment

Set the segment type to flight and type the departure and arrival airports. AvoMap knows 7,695 airports, so the IATA code is usually enough.

  3. Set the pace and the camera

Choose how long the flight takes on screen and where the camera sits. Press Play to preview it on the globe.

  4. Render and download

Click Create Video and download the MP4 in 1080p or 4K at 60 fps.

02Option 2

The Track The Plane Actually Flew

A great-circle line between two airports is close to what most flights fly, but it misses the detours around weather, the holding pattern before landing and the altitude. Flightradar24 records all of that, and on a paid plan it exports the track as a KML file.

  1. Find the flight on Flightradar24

Search the flight number on flightradar24.com and open the flight's data page, or open the aircraft's history. Silver plans go back 90 days, Gold 365 days, Business three years.

  2. Download the KML

Next to the flight there are two download buttons, CSV and KML. Take the KML. Free accounts don't have these buttons.

  3. Convert it to GPX

Flightradar24 stores the track in a format Google Earth uses. Drop the file into the free KML to GPX converter on this site and download the GPX. Nothing is uploaded; the conversion runs in your browser.

  4. Upload the GPX in the AvoMap editor

Click Select Your GPS File and pick the GPX. The flown path draws itself on the globe, altitude included. Set the duration and camera, preview, then click Create Video.

03

One Video For The Whole Trip

A flight rarely travels alone. Add the drive from the airport as the next segment, then the hike from your watch's GPX, and the camera moves from one to the next in a single video. The animated map maker page shows how segments join up.

Why Not Screen-Record Flightradar24's 3D View?

You can, and people do. The result is the size of your phone screen, it has the app's interface in it, and the camera goes where the app decides. Flightradar24 has no record or export button for the 3D view, which is why its own forum thread on 3D replays ends with someone rebuilding the flight in Google Earth Studio. AvoMap renders the same flight as a clean MP4 in 1080p or 4K at 60 fps, with your logo or none.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Flightradar24 export a video of a flight?

No. Flightradar24's 3D view plays in the app and on the website, and there is no record or export button for it. What Flightradar24 does export, on Silver, Gold and Business plans, is a KML file of the flown track. AvoMap turns that KML into a video of the real path.

How do I make a flight path animation without Flightradar24?

Open the AvoMap editor, add a flight segment and type the departure and arrival airport codes. AvoMap draws the great-circle route on a 3D globe between 7,695 airports, animates the plane and exports an MP4. This works for any flight, however long ago, and needs no subscription.

How do I replay a past flight in 3D?

Find the flight on flightradar24.com with the flight number, download the KML from its data page, convert the KML to GPX with the free converter on avomap.com and upload the GPX to AvoMap. The replay follows the recorded track with the altitude and renders as an MP4.

How far back does Flightradar24 flight history go?

Silver subscribers can export flights from the last 90 days, Gold from the last 365 days and Business from the last three years. Free accounts can view history but not export it. A flight outside that window can still be animated in AvoMap from its two airport codes.

Why convert the Flightradar24 KML to GPX first?

Flightradar24 writes the track as a Google Earth track with timestamps. The free KML to GPX converter on avomap.com reads that format and writes a plain GPX that the editor draws without surprises. The conversion runs in the browser, nothing is uploaded, and the altitude is kept.

How much does a flight video cost?

Previewing on the globe in AvoMap is free, with every feature open. A finished 1080p MP4 costs one render credit, 4K costs two, and credits start at $9 for five videos. There is no subscription. The Flightradar24 KML export needs one of its paid plans; the airport method needs nothing.
